Mechanical Mock Ups

Another unique service from Pioneer! These no charge, ‘mechanical only’ prototypes often eliminate costly design iterations by validating fit/flexibility and are a great tool to communicate your concept to others.

Many of Pioneer’s customers know that mock-ups are one secret of successful flex/rigid-flex PWB projects and make them a standard part of their design process.

Varying levels of detail are possible. Our standard mock-up contains only tooling holes and simulates worst case flexibility by leaving solid (unetched) copper on all flex layers. However, a more realistic mock-up with features such as etched circuitry on flex and/or outer layers, drilled connector patterns can also be fabricated when requested. Regardless of the level of detail, mock-ups are provided free of charge.

WHY MAKE A MOCK-UP?

Fit check – verify the ‘fit and feel’ of the finished product by installing the mock-up in your chassis. Correct potential assembly or interference problems before they become costly and embarrassing mistakes.
Optimize your design without incurring the costs and time of an actual build.
High Fidelity – in most cases, the exact materials specified in your fabrication drawing will be used to construct the mock-up resulting in an extremely accurate mechanical model. A much better tool than paper dolls, mylar or even CAD simulations for evaluating mechanical characteristics.
Quick Turn – average turnaround time is 1 -2 weeks based on shop load and level of detail required.
